Benihana Style Fried Rice

Created by: The Pretty Little Chef

"If you've been to Benihana or any type of teppan style Japanese restaurant than you know how AMAZING the fried rice is. Last time I went to Benihana I asked the chef what the key ingredient was and he said "garlic butter". I took a basic recipe, added the garlic to the butter & "wa la", perfect fried rice!"

NOTE: Use a rice cooker to cook the rice, if not the rice will come out mushy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of cooked rice (use a rice cooker)
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon of Fresh Garlic
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds
  • 3-5 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Directions:

    1. Cook 1 cup of rice in the rice cooker as directed
    2. Scramble eggs and chop after cooking.
    3. Saute chopped onion with 1 tablespoon of oil until clear & tender, then add chopped scrambled egg.
    4. Break off chunks of steamed rice and mix with Onions & Eggs
    5. Add sesame seed and salt and pepper (to taste), stirring well.
    6. Mix the garlic with the butter
    7. Add Garlic butter and soy sauce into the mixture, stirring well until done.
